Token of prehistoric times neatly set in sterling silver.

Sterling silver statement ring with cushion-shaped turritella agate.
It was formed from sediments full of snail shells (it’s freshwater snail Elimia Tenera, the gemstone was actually incorrectly named after genus turritella, which is similar but saltwater). Elimia Tenera is now extinct species.
These snail shells and other sediments fossilized into fossiliferous agate/chalcedony.

The stone is set in a simple hand-fabricated bezel. I decided to give the silver soft satin finish to emphasize the stone.
The bezel sits on a 5 mm wide domed band.
