Nice little square earrings, dainty and lightweight.
Made with keum-boo technique from sterling silver and gold foil.
Keum-boo is an ancient Korean technique used to apply thin sheets (foil) of gold to silver. Traditionally, this technique is accomplished by first heat-treating a surface of sterling silver to bring up a thin layer of fine silver. Then 24-carat gold foil is applied with heat and pressure. The resulting bond is permanent.
These earrings are made as described above – with heat treated sterling silver and 24k gold (pure gold) foil.
They are oxidized to enhance the contrast. The back of the earrings is black/dark grey.
Earwires are fixed to the square parts.
Dimensions: squares 15 mm diagonal/width (0.6 in.), length with ear wires 27 mm (1.1 in.)
